Lipová lies in the western part of the Šluknovský výběžek region. The first mention dates to 1417, and in 2019 it received the Village of the Year title.

A Baroque château stands in Lipová, dating from 1737 to 1739 and built at the initiative of Count Salm-Reifferscheid. The municipal care home in Lipová provides residential care under a special regime.
